The Best Mac Tricks You Didn’t Know Existed
Every operating system has its own hidden tricks that you probably haven’t noticed yet. Most tricks are actually shown on the manual it brings but really no one ever reads the manual thoroughly. Also, the difference with Mac is that when you buy it, you aren’t even given a manual in the box, you have to go find it on Apple’s support site.
1) Ctrl + Cmd + Spacebar
This simple and easy trick brings up the full emoji keyboard. You won’t even have to break a sweat thanks to this simple trick that not many people know off. Honestly, not even I knew about it and I’ve had my fair share with Mac laptops.
2) Cmd + ~
This trick allows you to quickly switch between windows on the current application you’re on. I learned this simple trick thanks to my own grandmother! I couldn’t believe it myself when she told me but she was definitely right about it. Actually, thanks to the love my grandmother has towards technology, I was able to know a lot more about my Mac thanks to these tricks.
3) Shift + Option
This command will give you the ability to more finely adjust the volume. Want to jam out with your favorite song? No problem, this command will help you with the volume so you can dance all night without breaking a sweat!
4) Holding down Shift when changing the volume will mute the volume clicker
If you ever need to mute the audio without clicking on so many things then you’re just in luck, this command has got it all under control.
5) Cmd + L
This trick will highlight the URL bar in your browser.
6) Cmd + Shift + 3
If you ever need to screenshot something try out this simple trick. It’s saved me countless of times and it’s definitely quite useful.
7) Cmd + Shift + 4
Don’t want capture EVERYTHING that’s on your Mac? No problem, Cmd + Shift + 4 will let you take a cropped screenshot.
8) Cmd + Shift + 4 + Spacebar
The trick will let you take a screenshot of a specific window. Just pick the window you want to screenshot and that’s it! It’s that simple.
9) Using ‘Preview’ you can digitally sign documents
I LOVE preview. The fact that I can digitally sign documents is a lifesaving thing for me.
10) Cmd + Option + Shift + V
By clicking them one at a time you will gain the ability to paste text with formatting.
11) Option + Right-Click
This command will (on certain things) bring up an extra contextual menu.
12) Cmd + Spacebar
This will give you quick access to spotlight. Whenever you need it, just click Cmd + spacebar and voilà!
13) Highlight multiple items then hit the Spacebar
This command lets you show them in Quick Look.
14) Cmd + H
This will quickly hide the windows for the current app you’re on.
15) Alt + backspace
This command deletes whole words instead of deleting single letters. This trick has helped me a lot while getting down to business with my articles. I definitely recommend this to anyone who owns a Mac.
16). Holding down Shift while minimizing a window will minimize it in slow motion
